A medical van is coming to Semmes with free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds

FOX10 reported on August 26, 2026 that the Women’s Resource Center is parking a confidential, cost-free medical van at the Semmes Community Center. It starts September 1, 2026, every other Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Registered nurse Britney Hines staffs the unit. She said the van will offer pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STI testing, pregnancy-options education, parenting classes, and community referrals. The point, as she described it, is that a woman should not have to solve transportation before she can be seen.

Shelby Thompson, WRC’s Director of Education and Empowerment, said this is not meant to be a one-time visit. Programs such as Empowered Parent and the Baby Boutique are meant to keep helping as needs change. WRC also runs an Empower to Thrive prevention program in schools.

A October 23, 2025 FOX10 item from WRC lists brick-and-mortar sites in Semmes (4276 McCrary Road, Suite G; 251-675-0911), Mobile (718 Downtowner Loop W; 251-344-4357), and Saraland (611 Norton Ave; 251-662-9933). That list included free pregnancy testing, free ultrasounds, STI testing and treatment, after-abortion recovery, fatherhood classes, and the Baby Boutique. WRC’s own website states that it does not provide or offer referrals for the abortion pill, and that ultrasound exams are free.
